    2. Not bad, but not enough kitties. Yes, that's right. I am a 40-ish year old woman who likes to read mysteries heavily featuring felines. What of it. 3 stars.

    3. Reviewed by: Rabid Reads.I decided that 2016 was going to be the year I gave Cozy Mysteries a chance, and THE MADNESS OF MERCURY was my first selection. I wish I could say that this book sold me on the genre except it did anything but. Now, as a total noob, I obviously have a thing or two to learn about this style of story telling, so some of my misgivings can probably be chalked up to sheer inexperience. That being said, I found that this novel was rife with inconsistencies, and that the puzzle [...]

    4. When Julia, newspaper astrologer, implies in her column that a church might be swindling an old woman out of her home she becomes the latest target for their vitriol. As the church's attacks increase in ferocity, San Francisco's police turn a blind eye. But Julia isn't one to go quietly into the night and she decides to fight back. Then an older woman, the aunt of her closest friend becomes entangled in the church, and Julia discovers just how far the church will go to protect their secrets. I q [...]

    7. 3.5 stars enjoyable and interestingI like when cozy mysteries have unusual settings or unusual careers for the lead character and "The Madness of Mercury" certainly fit that bill. Set in San Francisco, a large city instead of a small town, and with a heroine who is a professional astrologer, the story was off to a strong start with just those two elements.di Marco gives us a strong sense of place, taking us beyond the tourist surface of San Francisco and using nearby locales to her advantage. di [...]

    8. I love the idea of an astrologer as an amateur sleuth. A mix of astrology and cozy mystery…makes for a very exciting story.Julia’s character is strong and doesn’t easily give up. She handles everything that’s thrown at her…both literally and figuratively. When a religious group puts a target on her back, she doesn’t back down from a fight. She plans her strategy to put a stop to it. She never thought astrology readings and writing an advice column based on those readings could be so [...]

    9. This book is a promising start in a new series. A glossary of terms in astrology may be a help to the uninitiated as astrological references are heavily mentioned, but necessary to the premise. The characters were interesting and the solution at the end was one I did not see coming. All in all, I recommend this book, and look forward to reading the next in the series.

    13. A wonderful start to am intriguing new series. I am a cozy addict and I have enjoyed psychics and astrology in many forms for decades. I couldn't wait to see how they would be combined. It turned out to be a lot of fun.The characters are well written and we begin to care for them early on. 14. Make sure you have plenty of time to read before you start this book as you won't want to put down. It is set with a background of Astrology and has a slight touch of paranormal. The Reverend Roy has unleashed his followers of The Amy of GOD against all things he deems evil. The police can do little to protect individuals targeted by him. He has aimed his army against, Julia Bonatti because she wrote in her Zodiac column that he is a charlatan. He deems her witch and harasses her that she and bl [...]

    15. Ramblings:I've always had a love affair with suspense "and" mystery novels. Connie Di Marco has combined my favorite genres into one read. Summary:While visiting a client, Julia Bonatti makes a deadly discovery. Soon after, this San Franciscan astrologer becomes the target of a religious cult. Its members will stop at nothing (using any means necessary) to ensure that Julia's homeless, jobless, or six feet under. They prefer the latter!Review:The Madness of Mercury is Connie Di Marco's first boo [...]

    16. I'm not a fan of astrology but I grabbed this book for the terrific cover and the fact that it has a computer, candle and fireplace on the cover which I need for various challenges. I think the book had too many passages of pure astrological language of which none was decipherable. Honestly after the first 2 or 3 I started skipping them and just read the following paragraph which explained it in English. I liked the mystery but it was easy to figure out "who" the culprit was and why they were do [...]

    20. This is the first in a new series by Connie di Marco, who also writes the Soup Lover's Mysteries under the name Connie Archer. This review was a little difficult for me to write because I was torn about how I felt in about the book. Initially, I was drawn to the book because of the bright, beautifully done cover as well as the book description. The fact that the protagonist was an astrologer was not something I had seen done before as a theme or occupation for a cozy mystery. To begin with, this [...]

    25. The planets are not aligned for San Francisco astrologer Julia Bonatti, in Connie Di Marco’s The Madness of Mercury. Julia finds herself in the crosshairs of resident cult leader Reverend Roy of the Prophet’s Tabernacle when she answers a letter in her Zodiac newspaper column. While Julia’s life begins to unravel she is drawn into the world of her elderly client Evandra, who believes that her niece Dorothy is going to harm her. 26. This is the first in a new series that features an astrologer Julia Bonatti. The first thing I would like to share with readers is that it is a great read. The second thing I’d like to discuss is reader expectations. The cover is beautiful, really. However, I feel it could lead some to believe this is a cozy style mystery. It is actually categorized on as a Mystery/Thriller/Suspense. You may wonder why that could make any difference in a reader’s enjoyment. In this book you are literally at [...]

    28. I was fascinated by the idea of a mystery series involving astrology, and I was not disappointed by the first book in this series. The story is very well-written, and the characters are realistic and likable. The author does a great job of integrating astrological information throughout the book, thanks to the main character's work with an astrological advice column and her creating astrological charts for private clients.I think that is going to be a big draw for me as the series continues.Julia [...]
