    1. My thanks to the author for the review copy. When starting this book, i wasn't sure what to expect, but what i got was well worth the time to read. Judas Goat is a fun romp that follows an investigation as it twists and turns in an entertaining manner. The plot is well thought out and tightly woven, the characters are interesting and the descriptions are excellent. The only quibble i have with it is the amount of food described in the book, as i spent the entire read constantly hungry! Some of th [...]

    2. Very impressed! Normally I don't do mysteries. Why? Because they are often, tedious, over-plotted, with ridiculous twists and turns, with characters who bear no resemblance to any detective who I have known. I was a cop and know detectives. Most mystery cops, are often just too either stupid or all-seeing, you just know the criminal, has no chance, and the combination of the brilliance of the investigator and fumbling of the evil doer will correct the cosmic balance. Boring!!!I grew up liking th [...]

    3. Book review also on my blog: mysterysequels/judas-gJudas Goat is a solid mystery. I enjoyed it right from the start. Chief Inspector Michael Lambert is a middle aged guy who has a rather unhappy marriage, but quite a successful job. He is even looking forward to be promoted next year when his boss will retire. In the meantime he has a very strange murder case to solve. A body is discovered on a boat in his area of jurisdiction, and initially the task seems simple enough: identify the murder victi [...]

    4. Chief Inspector Michael Lambert takes on a case like no other he has ever encountered before. This complex, well plotted, evenly paced mystery will take Lambert all over the world after a botched arms deal leads to murder and international intrique. While Lambert is quite capable in his career and seems to thrive with grace under pressure, his personal life is in shambles. His marriage is on it's last leg, he and his wife just waiting the other out to see who will officially say the words out lo [...]

    5. Judas Goat - The Kennet Narrow Boat Mystery. This is a murder mystery revolving around the British Police Force and Chief Inspector Mike Lambert. The book opens with the discovery of a body on a canal boat moored on the Kennet and Avon Canal just outside Reading in Berkshire. With suspicious circumstances, the police try to piece together the little evidence they have. They believe the body could be Liam Side and Lambert finds himself on a trail which leads to Sophia in Bulgaria. Liam Side has le [...]

    6. Very often the most popular detective stories start with a crime which gets our hero running around in his own back yard, accusing quite innocent people of murder. Bully boys are not always the most successful policemen, although they make good TV and dominate aggressive story lines.A murder on the Kennet and Avon Canal, introduces us to Detective CI Michael Lambert - a cricket playing, jazz loving classic car enthusiast - who solves problems and thinks with his head and not his mouth. When the J [...]
