    3. Thank you Carmel Audsley, for giving us a peek into your family's history. Follow the McMurdo family has they transition from farming in the first book to working in the coal mines of Scotland in this installment. History comes alive as you follow the McMurdos through triumph and many a tragedy as they struggle working in the dangerous coal mines. You get a glimpse of just how hard life was back then for working families. A tragic story with a hopeful ending wonderfully told.
