    1. This one is unusual in the series because it's written in the first person; there are fleeting references and tenuous connections to several of the other stories in the collection. In this one, there's a raid on Christmas Eve that doesn't quite go as planned, after a superior officer in the CID hears a personal confession from one of his team. Another great twist at the end, and terrific narration from Ian Hanmore.
