    1. The Christmas Quilt is a beautiful read, especially as we prepare for Thanksgiving and Christmas. I love to quilt, so this book again was interesting to me. The symbolism of the quilt was cleverly portrayed throughout this short, inspiring novel. Now I must finish my Christmas quilt. This quotation was written by the author.“May the Lord bless and keep you and may He shine the light of His love upon you. I wish you all a very merry Christmas and a happy New Year.”

    2. Gideon Troyer left his Amish community years ago after his long time girlfriend, Rebecca Beachy, rejected him. He fulfilled his dreams of becoming a pilot. He had no desire to return home until he sees a tv news story about Rebecca; he discovers that she is blind, and a quilt she made is going to be auctioned off to raise money for surgery that could restore her sight.Gideon returns to Hope Springs, so that he can buy the quilt to help Rebecca; he also spends time her when a snowstorm prevents h [...]

    3. This is the story of Gideon and Rebecca. Gideon left the faith years ago when Rebecca refused his marriage proposal. He decided to get into flying since that was always his love and he had to leave the Amish community since that is forbidden by the Amish. Rebecca is blind and consided an old maid in her community. She feels nobody wants her because she is blind and will not make a good wife. She lives with her aunt and they help each other. The story opens with Rebecca selling a quilt at an auti [...]

    4. Title: THE CHRISTMAS QUILTAuthor: Patricia DavidsPublisher: Love Inspired December 2011ISBN: 978-0-373-81588-3Genre: Inspirational/Contemporary Romance/AmishGideon Troyer left his Amish community years ago after his long-time lover, Rebecca Beachy, rejected him. He fulfilled his dreams of becoming a pilot, and made more money than he knows what to do with. But returning home is the last thing on his agenda—until he sees a television broadcast about a quilt auction to help fund a surgery to hop [...]

    5. This was a really sweet story, if a bit contrived in places. I actually ended up walking a partially-blind friend home last night (his sight is affected by light, so he can see well in daylight but not at all at nighttime) and I think this book gave me a better appreciation for what it means to be blind. I definitely preferred this book to the other one I've read by this author, An Amish Christmas, but I still found it a bit predictable in places. But I did like reading about all the secondary c [...]

    6. This is the first book I've read by Patricia Davids. The story, one of redemption and hope, took me on an emotional roller coaster ride. Although I liked all the characters, I think Gideon was my favorite. His kind heart was so touching. I think even readers who don't typically like Amish fiction would enjoy this one.

    7. Amish Rebecca Beachy rejected Gideon Troyer's marriage proposal for an unkown reason 10 years ago, causing Gideon to leave his Amish community to learn to be a pilot. Since then he's been shunned and has not returned. When he chances to see a tv report about a quilt auction to raise money for an operation to help Rebecca regain her sight, he takes the chance to return to Hope Springs, Ohio for the auction and to find out what's going on. What he finds, is the hope and courage to give up his life [...]

    8. This is the 5th book by Patricia Davids that I have read and it was by far my favorite. It was a beautiful story of love and redemption. Putting your faith in God will bring you all the joys you've ever imagined. In times of trial Rebecca was able to love again and find forgiveness even when she felt she didn't deserve it. Excellent story!

    9. I believe this is the second novel I've read by Patricia Davids. Both happen to be Christmas books in her Brides of Amish Country series. I enjoyed it very much. Gabriel "Booker" Troyer grew up Amish, but, he was almost always a little restless. So when the love of his life, Rebecca Beachy, turns down his marriage proposal, off he goes. Because he was baptized into the faith, or, into the community, he is to be shunned now. This bothers him more than he'd like to admit, I believe. When readers m [...]

    10. Love inspired isn't my thing, Amish isn't my thing, but quilt fiction is. 1 out of three isn't too bad is it? I'll let you decide for yourself. An Amish woman loses her sight because her boyfriend playfully throws a snowball that hits her in the face. Unknowingly that snowball contains a pine needle. The pine needle pierces her eyeball. The damage somehow causes her to go blind in both eyes (Why?). The woman feels her boyfriend won't want her, so she breaks up with him. Boyfriend is hurt and deci [...]

    11. First time I have read from this author. I am very happy with this author too!!! As I read the Christmas Quilt the words in the story I could tell what was going on I didn't know how it was going to end so had to keep reading. Rebecca Beachy & Gideon Troyer now these two I thought were very nice together. But somethings happened in their lives & they didn't see each other for many years. As you read the story you will learn that even though they lived far apart for many years, something [...]

    12. Secrets, quilting, proposals, Amish, okay this is just a few of the things that caught my attention and held it all the way through this book. The characters here are so intertwined in the mystery of the amazing story line that you are captivated threw out the book. From the beginning to the end Rebecca Beachy is a lady that you just want to shake But also the other characters interact so that you are in love with them all and want to see what happens next, as well as wanting more at the end. Au [...]

    13. This was so moving and uplifting at the same time. Rebecca and Gideon were childhood sweethearts, at the age of 17, he asked for her hand in marriage, she said no, because she was going blind and didn't want him to be burdened with herhe leaves the Amish to become a pilot and is shunned by the Amishfast forward 10 yearsGideon is a pilot, co-owns his own company and he sees a story on television, they are having a fundraiser for Rebecca, who needs experimental surgery to regain her eyesight what [...]

    14. Actually, 3 1/2, a nice sweet story. I learned from this novel even the Amish have "denominations," and a "liberal" vs. "conservative" issue, with strict "Old Order" sects, such as the Swartzentruber Amish" being strict even by Amish standards. I learned that each Amish Bishop has leeway in interpreting the "ordnung," and some are more "liberal" than others, even in the same general area. I also learned that Amish women wear the white "kapps" as the Bible, taken literally, says women should cove [...]

    15. Rebecca Beachy and Gideon Troyer reconnect in this Christmas novel. Due to misunderstandings many years prior, Gideon leaves the Amish community and goes "Englisch" to pursue his love of flying. But now as problems develop for Rebecca, he wonders if he has made the right choice and if it is possible for a Christmas miracle for them.I have been somewhat burned out on Amish novels as so many of the storylines are similar in nature, but I really enjoyed this sweet story of Rebecca and Gideon as it [...]

    16. Another great story by Patricia Davids. I read the first four books in this series and loved all of them. Somehow, The Christmas Quilt fell through the cracks. But I finished it yesterday and loved it.This is a great series!! I am always looking for more from this author; she is one of my favorites.

    17. Not only for christmasThe story is set among the Amish in Ohio. Pilot Gideon Troyer sees a Newscast about a charity action for the blind Rebecca Beachy - the woman he once loved - and decides to go back home to support her anonymously. What follows is predictable, but the circumstances make the story: Why did Rebecca refuse Gideons proposal of marriage? Is it possible for Gideon to go back and live the simple amish life? Is he really willing to give up his passion for flying and his business to b [...]

    18. This was more of a 3 1/2 to be honest. It was a fairly quick read and was overall a really sweet story. There were a few parts of the story that got a bit awkward for me, and the writing itself admittedly lost me in a few places which keeps me from giving a full 4 stars, but it was still an enjoyable read. Definitely predictable, but I read few enough pure romances like this to really care too much.

    19. This was a beautiful sweet love story,I fell in love with Gideon-one of the main characters. This story was also about forgiveness in all relationships-beginning with family. It's about when a person loves another with everything they got.cepting that person with whatever they come- there are no obstacles whatsoever! Thanks for a wonderful story, Patricia Davids!

    20. This was book 5 in a series. Although it can be a stand-alone book, reading the previous books lets you know more about the characters in the book. The book had a good love story and talked about forgiveness to ourselves and others. I enjoyed the book, although it was a very simply written story.

    21. A compelling story about an Amish man who left the faith only to find his former girlfriend had lost her siht. Yes, it's a romance but sometimes, we need a bit o romance in our lives. Sometimes, we also need to explore our own faith and decide where we land. Ultimately, it's each of us who make a choice. We have to deide what's right or us, not what others tell us to think or believe.

    22. The Christmas quiltThis was a very good book. I have finished 5 of the brides of amish country series. I look forward to number 6. All of the ones I have read have been very enjoyable.

    23. I enjoyed this book. It had a lot about faith in God. Which makes you think. It kept me up reading it. Wanted to know what was happening next.

    24. All I can say is Patricia Davids does it again. I love learning about the Amish and how strong their faith is. I also like learning about why they do and don't do things. Great story!
