    1. With such a good title, and with such a lovely dust wrapper (a quilt of bright green taxis and yellow and pink toadstools), how could I resist this collection of poetry for children? Alas, it didn't live up to its cover. There was a preponderance of poems about poor old men - why? And the New York City poems were charming only because they seemed positively antique - green, red and blue taxis? The rhymes were sing songy, unchallenging, as mild as milk toast. Not one of Fields' finer works.
