    1. Do you know someone serving in the military? Make sure you read this book and buy your friend a copy too! There is so much useful information to help any family dealing with the transitions of military life. The author shows great ways to help a family who has a member serving somewhere away from home. One example is simply not forgetting to mail them cards or call them. Sometimes you get so busy with your own life you can forget that your friend may still be in need of those encouraging notes, v [...]

    2. Just re-read this. There are some really nice suggestions for military families. Some of the stories were a little hockey and ended up skipping over several. The spouse spotlights were nice yet it would have been great to see more Enlisted spouses showcased. You can tell this book was written by and for Officer spouses. And before you all get after me, I know there is no rank among spouses, yet there is a difference in the experience of an officer spouse and an enlisted and the vernacular is an [...]

    3. I have been flipping through this book the past couple of weeks again in preparation for the deployment. Kay has some good suggestions, but at times she comes across as somewhat preachy. However, the checklists for deployment and lists of military resources are helpful. Overall though I would steer spouses towards Homefront Club: The Hardheaded Woman's Guide to Raising a Military Family.

    4. Ellie Kay puts on a great motivational speech for military wives. When my husband was extended last year, after already spending 12-months in Iraq, she came to speak to us (172nd Stryker Brigade) and she helped me snap out of the self-pity I was feeling. I purchased her books on the way out and read this one pretty quickly. It's a quick, easy read that can be passed on to inlaws and parents too. General information about PSC moves, deployments, finances, etc. Inspirational stories also.

    5. WONDERFUL book!! A MUST read for military service members, their spouses, their families, friends & civilians. Very informative. As a Navy Wife myself it definitely gives you some great suggestions to use before, during & after deployments. As well as helps to make you feel like you're not alone. Fabulous author!

    6. I was given this at the FRG meetingwasn't terribly impressed, I liked "The Homefront Club" by Jacey Eckhart much better. I know this is published by the Christian publisher Bethany House, but for someone who's supposed to be addressing all the services, she's too Christian- and Air Force-oriented. Even when she tries to include others, it's half-way and comes across as shallow.

    7. Useful if you are a stay at home mom that lives on base not so much for the rest of us trying to survive.

    8. Sometimes it is just nice to read another's story of military lifed hear that I am not the only one just getting by some days!
