    1. Lily clearly has a problem reading, but the exact nature of the problem isn't specified. Dyslexia is hinted at in the illustrations, however, and some of her problem may just be nerves. The story focuses on how Lily feels about herself. She's very self-conscious when asked to read aloud, and, oddly, the teacher doesn't seem to realize that she has a problem until Lily's mother talks to her. Then the teacher assigns a peer to be Lily's reading partner to help her. The story does show how one litt [...]

    2. We have had a few kids in our class reading The Lightning Thief lately and we've talked about how the main character has trouble in school. My students have made connections with this challenge. It's been interesting to talk about how they have sympathy for children who struggle and how they feel when they struggle.

    3. Lily used to love school but now hates it. Words make no sense to her and she feels different from the other kids. I though this was a sweet book to describe dyslexia from the child's point of view. K-3

    4. This book would be great for a child needing help in reading. It would let him/her know they are not alone. AR 3.1

    5. Lily and the Mixed-Up Letters was a great book! The illustrations were amazing and the story line was inspiring.

    6. This Children's book is about a young girl names Lily that has dyslexia. This book encourages children that struggle with dyslexia to continue to work at it and not give up. It is a great book for those that don't have dyslexia too because it allows them to understand what it's like to be struggling with this disability. It teaches children that it's okay to be different.

    7. Lily and the Mixed-Up Letters does not ever specify the disability she has but when I think of it dyslexia comes to mind. The problem is when Lily is in second grade and reading starts to become a struggle for her. Lily feels down on herself and its up to her parents and friends who bring her back together. This is a very good book and has valuable lessons for any elementary student.
